What does this mean for you? It means that all cash and non-cash (tangible items) donations made to The Dance Team are now tax-deductible. Every donation will be issued with a receipt, along with the biggest warmest most embarrassing thank-you hug you have ever had. And if you plan to make a donation to The Dance Team’s projects, ask your employer if they have a matching charitable gift program, as many employers often match your donation dollar-for-dollar.
What does this mean for us? It means we are growing up. As we lay down roots and develop larger projects, we need to be smarter and more efficient about funding. Donations made through Fractured Atlas will not be taxed. In the future, we can apply for some institutional and corporate support that was previously unavailable. And we simply become more attractive, in a combed-hair-skinny-tie-and-blazer sort of way – at least to donors.
What doesn’t it mean? We do not become an entirely tax-exempt, non-profit organization. We can still ticket events and earn revenue.
And we can still party. Harder. Smarter. And more fiscally responsible.
